The Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top against Greenwood by a score of 71-64. Given Madisonville-North Hopkins' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Greenwood is ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Madisonville-North Hopkins to victory, but perhaps none more so than Riley Sword, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sword has scored at least 25% of Madisonville-North Hopkins' points. Nya Carney was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Madisonville-North Hopkins pushed their record up to 5-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Greenwood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Madisonville-North Hopkins will head out on the road to face off against Bullitt East at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenwood will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Henderson County at 12:45 p.m. on December 27th.
