Meridian is 3-0 against Morgan since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Meridian Yellowjackets will be staying on the road to face off against the Morgan Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th.
Last Friday, Meridian was the victim of a tough 42-17 loss at the hands of Huckabay. While losing is never fun, Meridian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1349th, while Huckabay is ranked 264th).
Meanwhile, Morgan made easy work of Kopperl on Tuesday and carried off a 36-16 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Morgan.
Morgan can attribute much of their success to Briseyda Romo, who scored 11 points along with five blocks and three steals, and Bianca Aviles, who scored 18 points along with six blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which Aviles has scored at least 25% of Morgan's points.
Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Morgan, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Everything came up roses for Meridian against Morgan in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 50-9 victory. With Meridian ahead 34-3 at the half, the match was all but over already.
