El Camino is 0-8 against Mission Hills since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The El Camino Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mission Hills Grizzlies at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, El Camino strolled past Poway with points to spare, taking the game 39-20. The victory made it back-to-back wins for El Camino.
Among those leading the charge was Carson Howard, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 240 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Cerda, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
Meanwhile, Mission Hills earned a 28-21 win over La Costa Canyon on Friday.
Mission Hills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Troy Huhn, who threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Jayden Williams, who picked up 170 receiving yards and a touchdown.
El Camino is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Mission Hills, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 5-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday' match: El Camino has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 159.8 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Mission Hills, though, as they've been averaging only 18.2 per game. How will Mission Hills fare against such a dominant running game?
