The Maria Carrillo Pumas's three-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 56-23 victory over Roseland University Prep on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-8.
Leading Maria Carrillo to victory were James Hillestad and Otto Lenhares. Hillestad scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Lenhares scored 16 points. Hillestad hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Nathan Dipman, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Maria Carrillo's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Roseland University Prep, they bumped their record down to 1-11 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maria Carrillo on the road again on Saturday and play against Santa Rosa at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Santa Rosa and Maria Carrillo are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Roseland University Prep, they will head out on the road to take on Sonoma Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
