The Southeast Halifax Trojans had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They took down Nash Central 66-50. That's another feather in the cap for Southeast Halifax, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Southeast Halifax can attribute much of their success to Jayvion Demery, who scored 18 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Johnson Jr., who scored 8 points along with 5 steals.
Despite the loss, Nash Central still got an impressive performance from Ryo Steele, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Markell Jasper, who scored 8 points.
Southeast Halifax's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Nash Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast Halifax will take on Rocky Mount Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Nash Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Hunt at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hunt presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Nash Central in North Carolina (Hunt is ranked 63rd, while Nash Central is ranked 389th).
