The Canton Warriors suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Wellsboro, falling 51-18. While losing is never fun, Canton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 611th, while Wellsboro is ranked 276th).
Lance Route was Canton's leading scorer, having posted six points. Route also led the team in assists with two. He held things down on the boards with five rebounds.
Canton's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-8. As for Wellsboro, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mansfield at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Mansfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Monday. As for Wellsboro, they will head out on the road to square off against Troy at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday.
