The Gregory School Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Ray Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gregory School is hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
On Saturday, The Gregory School beat San Simon 32-21. The victory was just what The Gregory School needed coming off of a 60-31 loss in their prior match.
The Gregory School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rose Pisetsky led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Pisetsky pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zena Smith, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Ray's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. Their tough 38-12 loss to Desert Christian might stick with them for a while. Ray was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-4.
Sanaa McGee was Ray's leading scorer, having posted five points. McGee also led the team in rebounds with eight.
Makayla Barajas took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
The Gregory School's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Ray, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
The Gregory School came up short against Ray in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 36-32. Can The Gregory School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
