Morehead is 6-1 against Walkertown since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Morehead Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Walkertown Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Morehead has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Walkertown will arrive with seven straight wins.
Things were looking good for Morehead after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Person by a score of 6-5.

Morehead saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Wade, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Wade is becoming a predictor of Morehead's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Judson Friese was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Walkertown put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand T.W. Andrews a 23-0 shutout. The Wolfpack might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.
Walkertown got a massive performance out of Cam Smith, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aaron Hester, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Walkertown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .500 or higher in three consecutive games.
Walkertown pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Morehead, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Morehead has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Walkertown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Morehead took their win against Walkertown when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. Does Morehead have another victory up their sleeve, or will Walkertown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
