The Midway Panthers entered their tilt with the Bryan Vikings with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Midway simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Bryan 49-21 on the road. Given Midway's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Bryan is ranked 386th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Midway got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lathan Whisenton out in front who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown. Ty Brown also helped out by tossing the rock for 250 yards.
When it comes to explaining why Bryan lost, one person who can't be blamed is tj love. Despite the final result, he picked up 116 receiving yards and a touchdown. Love was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards.
Midway has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Bryan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
Midway will be playing in front of their home fans against Weiss at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Weiss is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Bryan, they will square off against Hutto at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hutto has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 167 points over their last four matches.
