The Cairo Pilots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 55-27 loss at the hands of Pinckneyville. Cairo was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.
Cairo's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shanti Taylor, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Wilkerson, who scored eight points.
Cairo has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Pinckneyville, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cairo on the road again on Monday and play against Caruthersville at 4:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Caruthersville comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Pinckneyville, they will head out on the road to take on DuQuoin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
