3A Region 4 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Trinity Presbyterian's Chris Hynniman recorded the longest rushing play in 3A Region 4 this season in his game against St. James last week. Hynniman scampered for 66 yards on the play and finished with 87 on the day as his team defeated the Trojans.
Comer extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Winterboro, 48-30. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Austin Jones was the best wideout in the league this week as Central of Coosa County beat South Lamar. Jones tallied three receptions for 52 yards. Javaris Whetstone helped Central of Coosa County's passing attack out by catching three balls for 42 yards.
Tyre McKinney was the most productive running back in 3A Region 4 this week. In seven carries, he ran for 102 yards as Comer bested the Stallions. Teammate Tyler Holmes added to the ground attack by rushing for 67 yards.
Allen Wood put up the best numbers through the air as Trinity Presbyterian topped St. James. He finished with a total of 15 completions for 146 yards and three touchdowns. Wood's favorite target this week was Win Grice, who caught five passes for 43 yards.
Xavier Moon provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Central of Coosa County bested South Lamar. He completed nine passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 60 yards.
Richard Bell's team's Moon and Whetstone have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Moon has thrown for 745 yards this season, while Whetstone has 27 catches for 391 yards. Anthony Jacks's team's Caleb Duffee leads the league in rushing yards with 320.
Midfield moved up to 127 from 170 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Patriots climbed the ranks as a result of a 21-19 win over Fairfield.
