Lovington has gone a perfect 10-0 against Goddard recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Rockets at 5:00 p.m. The last seven games Lovington has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Lovington fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Artesia on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Daphne Utajara spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lovington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zabri Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Four must be Goddard's lucky number: they beat Portales with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Rockets walked away with a 4-1 win over the Rams. The victory continues a trend for the Rockets in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.
Goddard also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Vivianna Morales gave up a run (which was unearned) on ten hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Roxanna Serrano, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024. Marisol Hernandez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.
Goddard pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lovington, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 14-6.
Lovington took their win against Goddard in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-2 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
