First Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Academy at the Lakes Wildcats at TBD on Tuesday. One thing working in First Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
Even though Geneva scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, First Academy still came out on top. First Academy enjoyed a cozy 71-55 win over the Knights.
First Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Rhett Walsh, who scored 25 points along with six steals and five rebounds, and Amari Smith, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 20 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walsh has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Norflee, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Academy at the Lakes unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They were beaten by Brandon Academy 62-32.
Despite the loss, Academy at the Lakes got a solid performance out of Will Pena, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Nabil Delacurz, who scored four points along with five blocks.
First Academy pushed their record up to 12-10 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Academy at the Lakes, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-13.
