Mt. St. Michael Academy was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from 13th to 11th in Catholic. The Mountaineers beat Bishop Ford 22-12 earlier in the week.
St. Peter's moved up to 121 from 183 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Eagles were able to move up by topping Xavier 42-21.
Sean Cerrone was a passing and rushing force as Chaminade fell to St. Anthony's. He completed 9 passes for 135 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 117 yards. Cerrone's key target this week was Jack Tighe, who caught 3 passes for 82 yards.
Greg Galligan and Jordan Gowins gave the Friars a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Galligan threw for 144 yards and 1 touchdown, while Gowins ran for 185 yards. Teammate Naim Jones added to the ground attack by rushing for 102 yards.
The Falcons' James Esposito and Rodney Gonzales have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Esposito has thrown for 1,385 yards this season, while Gonzales has 39 catches for 681 yards. St. Anthony's' Gowins leads the league in rushing yards with 1,349.
Bishop Ford's Dante Aiken needs only 20 yards against St. Francis Prep next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 115 carries Aiken has put up 980 yards this year.
As it stands, the Terriers are in second, while Jim Esposito's team is in fifth.
Adding to the longest winning streak in Catholic this week, St. Peter's beat the Knights 42-21. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
