The Lebanon Tigers will take on the Western Boone Stars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lebanon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Ben Davis on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Owen Taylor made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Taylor was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Lebanon let Brooks Johnson and Bryce Nelson run wild. Johnson went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Nelson went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most hits Nelson has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chase Rubi, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lebanon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ben Davis only posted an OBP of .375.
Meanwhile, Western Boone had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Fountain Central 7-5. With that victory, the Stars brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Beau Sawyer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Western Boone is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise. Sawyer was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Sawyer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Easton Nance, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Luke Shirley was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Western Boone's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Lebanon, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
Lebanon might still be hurting after the 15-5 defeat they got from Western Boone when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
