The Largo Packers will venture away from home to challenge the Shorecrest Prep Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Largo will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating St. Petersburg, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Packers never let the Green Devils get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Tuesday. 14 seems to be a good number for the Packers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Not much got past Paige Sofge, who gave up just four hits to keep St. Petersburg off the board. Sofge has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Claire Meloy and Miranda Rollins did most of the damage at the plate: Meloy scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3, while Rollins scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave Meloy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle Fleck, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Largo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Shorecrest Prep waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 11-0 win.
Bobbie Strus made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Strus was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Madi Bidwell was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Sonia Anderson, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Largo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Shorecrest Prep, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Largo has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Shorecrest Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Largo couldn't quite get it done against Shorecrest Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 10-6. Can the Packers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
