The Rowan County Vikings lost against the Boyd County Lions back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Rowan County had to suffer through a rough 87-51 loss at the hands of the Lions. Rowan County has not had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Rowan County's loss came despite strong showings from Dashawn Watson and Brayden Mirus. Watson scored 15 points, while Mirus scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayson Ingles, who scored six points.
Rowan County struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Rowan County's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Boyd County, they pushed their record up to 21-5 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rowan County will square off against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Montgomery County is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Boyd County, they and the Red Devils will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Russell will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
