After flying high against the Mt. Vernon Wildcats last Tuesday, the Tecumseh Braves came back down to earth. Tecumseh had to suffer through a rough 77-49 loss at the hands of Gibson Southern. While losing is never fun, Tecumseh can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Gibson Southern is ranked 34th).
Tecumseh's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alena Holder, who scored ten points. Natalie Feather was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Gabby Spink was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with nine assists and six rebounds for Gibson Southern. Another player making a difference was Chloey Graham, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Tecumseh's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Gibson Southern, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tecumseh will take on Vincennes Rivet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gibson Southern, they will be playing at home against Washington at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Washington is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road.
