Stillwater and Woodbury are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Ponies will be playing at home against the Royals at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Stillwater is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
Stillwater is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Roseville 17-2 on Wednesday. With that win, the Ponies brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Carter Nelson looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Henry Mestad was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Runk, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Stillwater hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Woodbury didn't have quite enough to beat White Bear Lake on Wednesday and fell 9-7. The Royals have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Woodbury also got a good showing from Owen Huffer, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Tommy Dittrich was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Stillwater's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Woodbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Everything went Stillwater's way against Woodbury when the teams last played back in April, as Stillwater made off with a 7-0 victory. Will the Ponies repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
