The Fayetteville-Perry Rockets will challenge the Miami Valley Christian Academy Lions at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Fayetteville-Perry turned things around against Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington on Friday. They never let the Blue Jays get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Rockets not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 13-2).

Parker Pfankuch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those RBI were his first of the season.
In other batting news, AJ Roy and Alex Williamson did most of the damage at the plate: Roy went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Williamson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Williamson has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Luncan, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Fayetteville-Perry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Miami Valley Christian Academy made easy work of Norwood on Friday and carried off a 16-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Miami Valley Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Fayetteville-Perry, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-10.
Fayetteville-Perry couldn't quite get it done against Miami Valley Christian Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2022 as they fell 6-2. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
