The Paxton Bobcats will head out to square off against the South Walton Seahawks at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Tuesday, Paxton earned an 11-8 win over Baker.
Avionnah Padgett was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Ward, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Falk, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Paxton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, South Walton had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Crestview with a sharp 13-5 victory on Tuesday.
Tatum Kreinus was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Raegan Rintala also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Paxton's record now sits at 11-7. As for South Walton, their record is now 8-11.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Paxton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like South Walton struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Paxton suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to South Walton in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
