On Friday, The Souhegan Sabers faced the Pelham Pythons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Souhegan took a hard 40-21 fall against Pelham. Souhegan's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Souhegan's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brody Smith, who picked up 68 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jayden (JJ) Bright, who gained 155 total yards.
Souhegan's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Pelham, their victory was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Souhegan will take on Stark at TBD on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Hampshire (Stark is ranked 29th, while Souhegan is ranked 17th). As for Pelham, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hanover at 7:00 p.m.
