The Leland Cubs just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Simmons Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Leland will be strutting in after a victory while the Blue Devils will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Leland has not done well against the Warriors recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Leland managed a 44-39 win over the Warriors.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought contest, but Simmons had to settle for a 48-45 defeat against the Choctaws on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Simmons in their matchups with the Choctaws: they've now lost five in a row.
Leland's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-19. As for Simmons, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Leland couldn't quite finish off the Blue Devils in their previous matchup on Monday and fell 41-39. Can Leland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
