Basketball Recap: Trystan Overman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Saginaw over Fossil Ridge

Saginaw came up into this matchup off a tough 20-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Fossil Ridge Panthers by a score of 51-49 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rough Riders have suffered since November 28, 2023.

Several Rough Riders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trystan Overman, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 19 boards. Those 19 rebounds gave Overman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Willie McCrary, who went 5 for 11 en route to 13 points.

Saginaw has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-21 record this season. As for Fossil Ridge, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-17.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Granbury the next time they take the court. Fossil Ridge will host Granbury at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Saginaw will host them at 7:30 p.m. on February 11th.
