Softball Recap: Adams-Friendship Wins Going Away Against Westfield Area

Adams-Friendship hadn't done well against Westfield Area recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Green Devils put the hurt on the Pioneers with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Green Devils have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Riley Weaver was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Adams-Friendship got a massive performance out of Kerrigan Danowski, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Danowski a new career-high. Morgan Pare also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Adams-Friendship kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westfield Area only managed five hits.

Adams-Friendship has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Westfield Area, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Adams-Friendship will welcome Almond-Bancroft at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so the Green Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Westfield Area, they will host Cambria-Friesland at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hilltoppers will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight.
