The Loyola Bull Dogs will head out on the road to challenge the Erie-Mason Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Loyola's 25-2 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 43-42 to Lumen Christi Catholic. While losing is never fun, Loyola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Lumen Christi Catholic is ranked 45th).
Meanwhile, Erie-Mason scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 64-51 win over Britton Deerfield. That 13 points margin sets a new team best for Erie-Mason this season.
Loyola has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Erie-Mason, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8.
Loyola strolled past Erie-Mason in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 51-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loyola since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
