White Deer extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-5. They came up short against the Sunray Bobcats, falling 30-1. The Bucks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bobcats from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.
White Deer saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izaya Chavez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Chavez has hit this season.
As for Sunray, their win bumped their record up to 7-3. Considering they have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
On Sunray's side, Parker Johnson and Daniel Collins were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Johnson struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Collins pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Johnson got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Collins went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Gray, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Christian Sauceda, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Coming up, White Deer will face off against Sanford-Fritch at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Bucks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sunray, they will venture away from home to challenge Boys Ranch at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Roughriders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
