The Hibriten Panthers pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 77-55 defeat to Watauga might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Hibriten can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Watauga is ranked tenth).
Kate Sears continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Watauga, dropping a triple-double on 27 points, 14 rebounds, and ten assists. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Sears has scored at least a third of Watauga's points. Charlotte Torgerson was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Hibriten dropped their record down to 15-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Watauga, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hibriten will take on Alexander Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Alexander Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Watauga, they will be playing at home against Freedom at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Watauga focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
