Softball Recap: Spokane Has No Trouble Against Golden City

Spokane made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Golden City, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Owls put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 20-4 win on Monday. That looming 20-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Owls yet this season.

Karsyn Schrock was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Schrock was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Callie Terrell and Macie Gimlim did most of the damage at the plate: Terrell scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Gimlim scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Whitney Hardy, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Spokane and bumps their season record up to 4-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Golden City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Spokane will host Wheaton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Golden City, they are taking a road trip to square off against Liberal at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
