The Whitehall Norse will face off against the Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Whitehall will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, it was close, but Whitehall sidestepped Eleva-Strum for a 5-4 victory.
Mason Pientok made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Pientok was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Alex Sartor was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was William Youngbauer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Melrose-Mindoro's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 11-4 to Osseo-Fairchild. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mustangs have suffered since May 23, 2024.
Wade Adams was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Brewer Schlifer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Whitehall's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Melrose-Mindoro, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.
