Basketball Recap: Maxwell Falls Despite Big Games from Kristyn Cheek and Emory Christensen

Maxwell managed to slip by Arapahoe the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Maxwell Wildcats came up short against the Arapahoe Warriors on Tuesday, falling 65-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since February 13, 2024.

Maxwell's loss came despite strong showings from Emory Christensen and Kristyn Cheek. Christensen almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, while Cheek went 6 of 9 on her way to 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Cheek is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Arapahoe can attribute much of their success to Cadence Carpenter, who posted 12 points in addition to six assists and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Suttyn Shafer, who had 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Maxwell's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Arapahoe, their record is now 7-4.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Maxwell Wildcats face off against the Hershey Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hershey is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season. As for Arapahoe, they will face off against Medicine Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
