Blair Jackson made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Floyd County fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Patrick County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 7-6.
Emma Biesterveld spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits.
At the plate, Lilly Gillispie was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4. Addison Allen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Fort Chiswell's record now sits at 11-5. As for Floyd County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-4 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Fort Chiswell hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Floyd County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
