Lacey Price and Amya Ramos did most of the damage at the plate: Price went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Ramos got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double. Those two doubles gave Price a new career-high. Caydence Hassell was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Trinity Catholic got themselves on the board against Crescent City on Tuesday, but Crescent City never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 16-0 victory. The Celtics might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Liliana Ornelas made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
In other batting news, Lourdes Ornelas was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Casey Houghtaling also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Trinity Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crescent City only posted an OBP of .182.
Trinity Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Taylor, their record now sits at 15-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Taylor hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Trinity Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Taylor couldn't quite finish off Trinity Catholic in their previous matchup on April 3rd and fell 8-6. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
