WEST JORDAN, Utah -
Alta (Sandy, Utah) defeated West Jordan (Utah) 50-18 on the strength of
Chipper Lucero, who tossed four touchdown passes.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Lucero to
Derrick Francisconi in the first quarter, the Hawks were up 40-0 at the half.
Lucero and
Nate Teahan teamed up to form a great passing pair. Teahan caught three touchdowns and Lucero threw four. Teahan has now caught three touchdowns this season, while Lucero has thrown 23.
Alta's most effective player was Lucero. The senior quarterback threw four touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 42-0 win for AHS.
In a 5A Region 3 game next week West Jordan (1-8) takes on Jordan, and Alta (4-4) will go up against Bingham also in a 5A Region 3 game.
