Baseball Game Preview: Covenant Christian Academy Lions vs. St. James Wildcats

Covenant Christian Academy has gone a perfect 4-0 against St. James recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Covenant Christian Academy Lions take on St. James Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. James will be up against a hot Covenant Christian Academy squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 16. Covenant Christian Academy was the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over East Ascension on Tuesday.

Owen Trosclair made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Carsen Hebert was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Chevy Bourgeois, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

While St. James didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against East Iberville on Wednesday as St. James made off with a 14-2 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Covenant Christian Academy pushed their record up to 16-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for St. James, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

Covenant Christian Academy took their victory against St. James in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0. Will Covenant Christian Academy repeat their success, or does St. James have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
