On Wednesday, the Coventry Oakers faced the Lincoln Lions in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Coventry took a serious blow against Lincoln, falling 74-45. Coventry was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lincoln apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Coventry lost, one person who can't be blamed is Logan Voelker. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 46.7% of Coventry's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Broady, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Camden Dichiara, who scored 22 points for Lincoln. Dichiara hasn't dropped below 22 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ryan Fraize, who scored nine points.
Something new happened on Wednesday as Fraize saw his first action of the season, playing nine minutes against Coventry. Fraize made the most of the opportunity, scoring nine points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Coventry's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Lincoln, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 19-0.
Coventry will look to defend their home court on Friday against St. Raphael Academy at 6:30 p.m. As for Lincoln, they will square off against North Providence at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,460 points over their last 19 games.
