Brighton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Irondequoit Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Brighton is ranked 143rd, while Irondequoit is ranked 118th).
Brighton fought the good fight in their overtime contest against McQuaid Jesuit on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They and the Knights were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered an agonizing 32-31 loss. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Meanwhile, Irondequoit beat Webster Schroeder 36-27 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Irondequoit.
Irondequoit's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Ballard, who threw for 92 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Steven Clinkscales also helped out with an impressive 91 receiving yards.
Irondequoit's win bumped their season record to 6-1 while Brighton's loss dropped theirs to 4-3.
Brighton strolled past Irondequoit in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 42-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brighton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
