The Lakewood Ranch Mustangs's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 45-32 victory over DeSoto County. Lakewood Ranch pushed the score to 41-20 by the end of the third, a deficit DeSoto County cut but never quite recovered from.
DeSoto County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cherish Wiggins, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rihanna Downing, who scored five points along with 15 rebounds and three steals.
Lakewood Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for DeSoto County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.
Lakewood Ranch will be playing at home against Southeast at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Southeast is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for DeSoto County, they will square off against Patel at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Patel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
