The Coral Springs Colts will head out on the road to square off against the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Coral Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Coral Springs needed a bit of extra time to put away Pembroke Pines Charter. They skirted past the Jaguars 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Colts have posted since March 21, 2024.
Coral Springs got a great performance from Angel Ruguian as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Furthermore, Ruguian didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

At the plate, Jaxon Krugman was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Coral Springs' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Guthrie, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Gibbons suffered their biggest defeat since February 11th on Tuesday. They lost 15-7 to Stoneman Douglas. The Chiefs haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Kendrick Julmis and Eddie Marshall stepped up to the plate in a big way. Julmis went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Marshall fired off two home runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave Marshall a new career-high. Another player making a difference was JJ Pavlou, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and one stolen base.
Even though they lost, Cardinal Gibbons lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Cardinal Gibbons' loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Coral Springs, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Cardinal Gibbons' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Coral Springs has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. It's a different story for Cardinal Gibbons, though, as they've only averaged .348. Will they be able to contain Coral Springs' hitters?
Coral Springs skirted past Cardinal Gibbons 3-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coral Springs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
