It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Eastland Mavericks can now relate to. They were dealt a 44-7 loss at the hands of Holliday on Friday. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.
Holliday's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Grant Cox, who threw for 166 yards and three touchdowns. Cox has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Holliday also got a significant boost from Tyrese Polite, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Eastland and nudges their season record down to 3-8. As for Holliday, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Eastland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Holliday will face off against Leonard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Leonard will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 603rd, while Holliday is ranked 242nd).
