The Catoctin Cougars won the last time they faced the Middletown Knights, and things went their way on Friday too. Catoctin walked away with a 48-38 win over Middletown.
Catoctin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelsey Troxell out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Troxell is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight. Taylor Smith was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Catoctin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. As for Middletown, they dropped their record down to 14-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Catoctin will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Mountain Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. As for Middletown, they will challenge South Carroll at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (Middletown is ranked 82nd, while South Carroll is ranked 89th).
