Tri-County recap Oct. 30, 2012
Britton-Macon/Deerfield extended the longest winning streak in Tri-County this week by beating Reading, 14-7. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Patriots.
Clinton led the league in scoring this week after putting up 36 points on Clinton.
Kris Iott was the best wideout in the league this week as Britton-Macon/Deerfield defeated the Rangers. Iott tallied one reception for 77 yards. D.J. Gotz helped Britton-Macon/Deerfield's passing attack out by catching one ball for 26 yards.
TJ Baker put up the best numbers through the air as the Redskins lost to Manchester. He finished with 10 completions for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Baker's favorite target this week was Mathew Sexton, who caught two passes for 70 yards.
Leighton Merritt was the most productive running back in Tri-County this week. He ran for 114 yards on 23 carries as DJ Lutz's team topped Reading. Teammate Nate Hoffman added to the ground attack by rushing for 18 yards.
Clinton's Baker and Sexton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Baker has thrown for 1197 yards this season, while Sexton, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 13 catches for 367 yards. The Patriots' Merritt leads the league in rushing yards with 1605.
Scott Mcnitt's team fell 37-36 to the Flying Dutchmen in the closest game of the week. Baker was a bright spot for the Redskins, as he ran for 98 yards in the loss.
