On Wednesday, Oelrichs had to suffer through a rough 78-19 loss at the hands of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte. While losing is never fun, Oelrichs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Cheyenne-Eagle Butte is ranked 34th).
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damien Clown, who scored nine points along with seven steals. Levi Elk nation was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Oelrichs' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Oelrichs' road trip will continue as they head out to face Santee at 9:30 a.m. on December 14th. Santee and Oelrichs are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads. Cheyenne-Eagle Butte won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Takini at 6:30 p.m. on December 14th.
