After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Las Vegas, the Cheyenne Desert Shields were happy to have found some success on Monday. They managed a 67-62 victory over Western. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Cheyenne was led to victory by Omarion Kincey and Cordae Feazell. Kincey dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Feazell scored 19 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Tyree Bruce, who scored 15 points.
Despite the defeat, Western saw an underclassman step up: AC McDowell dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Josh Harris was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 8 rebounds.
The victory got Cheyenne back to even at 1-1. As for Western, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheyenne will take on Mojave at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Western won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Southeast Career Tech at 6:30 p.m. on November 28th.
