The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lake-Lehman, who took down 213th ranked Lake-Lehman, 35-26. Corey Moore threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Jordan Zezza and Zach Lanunziata provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Holy Redeemer. The connection was good for 76 yards, the longest such play in Wyoming Valley 2A/1A this season.
Zezza and Nick O?brien gave Wyoming Area a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Zezza threw for 182 yards and three touchdowns, while O?brien ran for 101 yards. Cody Schmitz also contributed to the rushing game with 62 yards on the ground.
Lucas Benton was the best wideout in the league this week as GAR Memorial defeated the Knights. Benton racked up nine receptions for 108 yards. Jamaar Taylor helped GAR Memorial's passing attack out by catching six balls for 92 yards.
The Grenadiers' Moore and Benton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Moore has thrown for 1059 yards this season, while Benton, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 37 catches for 508 yards. O?brien from the Warriors leads the league in rushing with 829 yards.
A big matchup in Wyoming Valley 2A/1A this week will be when Northwest Area takes on Lake-Lehman. As it stands, the Rangers are in second, while the Knights are in third.
GAR Memorial moved up to 276 from 354 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Paul Wiedlich's team climbed the ranks as a result of a 35-26 win over Lake-Lehman.
