While losing is never fun, Nacogdoches can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 520th, while Midlothian Heritage is ranked 178th).
Midlothian Heritage's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Batty, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Grace Sweeney, who scored 14 points.
Nacogdoches has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Midlothian Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.
Nacogdoches will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Huntsville at 7:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024. Midlothian Heritage's road trip will continue as they head out to face Greenhill at 12:30 p.m. on December 29th. One thing working in Greenhill's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
