Two dominant guards in Robert Brown and Cristian Rosado are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Inlet Grove Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the St. John Paul II Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John Paul II Academy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Inlet Grove, who comes in off a win.
Last Wednesday, Inlet Grove beat Tradition Prep 49-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Inlet Grove.
Inlet Grove can attribute much of their success to Isaiah Taylor, who scored ten points along with four steals, and Jordan Cajilus , who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Benson Murat, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, St. John Paul II Academy pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cardinal Gibbons. While losing is never fun, St. John Paul II Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 526th, while Cardinal Gibbons is ranked 106th).
Inlet Grove's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for St. John Paul II Academy, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5.
Inlet Grove was dealt a bruising 58-25 defeat at the hands of St. John Paul II Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2016. Can Inlet Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
