The Viera Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 65-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Windermere Prep. While losing is never fun, Viera can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while Windermere Prep is ranked 80th).
Despite the loss, Viera still got an impressive performance from Phantasia Lauriston, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Bell, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Viera has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Windermere Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6.
Viera won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Merritt Island Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 27th. Merritt Island Christian is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Windermere Prep will take on IMG Academy Blue at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
