Softball Recap: Henderson County Has No Trouble Against Apollo

Henderson County won the last time they faced Apollo and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Colonels blew past the Eagles 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Colonels, who have now won 18 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Henderson County got a massive performance out of Saniya Shields, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Shields has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maggie Grogan, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Henderson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Apollo only posted an OBP of .276.

Henderson County pushed their record up to 26-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Apollo, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13-1.

Looking ahead, Henderson County will square off against Great Crossing on Friday. As for Apollo, they are taking a road trip to challenge Bowling Green at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
