Washington had to kick off their season on the road back in November, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 53-35 victory over Tri-County Academy.
Leake Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 23 points or more this season. Everything went their way against St. Joseph Catholic on Wednesday as Leake Academy made off with a 67-44 win. The victory was familiar territory for Leake Academy who now have three in a row.
Leake Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sarah Prince, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Marleigh Myers, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Washington's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Leake Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Washington took a serious blow against Leake Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2021, falling 52-14. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Washington was down 35-12.
